When I heard GE’s 500th hash was in D7, for some reason I recalled the work of Dante’s Inferno and his 7th circle of hell. This is possibly due to imbibing too much of Paddy Fag’s fire and brimstone rhetoric at my last hash…

Anyway, Dante’s 7th circle’ was reserved for those who commit violence, and the punishments get pretty gruesome. One of these is to run naked through woodland pursued by hounds. Sounds kind of similar to a sunday hash, bar the SH3 attire…

Luckily the hash of the 7th district of hash hell last weekend did not turn out to be quite as bad as all that. The weather, for once, was heavenly. A mercifully cool 29-30 degrees, cloudy without the violent downpour we might have predicted.

Though a bit faint, the trail was marked almost religiously on lamposts.
During the trail GE described his multi-coloured marks as diverse and inclusive and I nodded along at this very progressive outlook. He certainly is keeping up with the times.

The beer stop, when it finally came at 6.5km, was well appointed by the river and included giant aeronautical fans. The beer was a bit slow to arrive and mostly flat. It was cold however and quenched many a thirsty hasher’s thirst.

Overall this 8km run (more like 10) was pleasant, largely due to chance environmental factors. Still GE and his co-hares deserve a well aimed pat on the back sometime. Camon all.
